Junior Edition
This activity, the first of its kind in Cyprus, is held annually during the school year. This edition of the Festival is aimed at children and young people, as well as educators and parents interested in expanding their knowledge of animation art. The activity includes screenings of children's films, exhibitions, workshops, and seminars on various artistic animation techniques, guided by creators, artists, educators, producers, and directors from Cyprus and abroad.
The workshops take place through school visits (following coordination with school administrations), at the Hambis Municipal Printmaking Museum, at special events in collaboration with the Cyprus Pedagogical Institute in specially equipped venues that can host multiple groups of students and teachers, as well as during the countryside festival. These workshops and training sessions focus on low-budget animation creation techniques.
The main goal of the program is to impart practical and theoretical knowledge and to offer children the opportunity to use age-appropriate educational strategies to create animations and experiment with various techniques. The workshops help children communicate using a wide range of visual messages and develop their creativity.
This pioneering development program has already contributed significantly to education. Knowledge and methods for creating and teaching animation across many techniques have been shared with countless students and educators across Cyprus’s public education system. As a result, animation is now used by many teachers in many Cypriot schools.
